About Clubland at Claygate Primary School

Our Breakfast and Afterschool club is available to all children from reception to Year 6. We have been running since September 2008 and have gone from strength to strength due to our dedicated and enthusiastic manager, Kim. She is supported by her deputies Andreja & Lydia and a wonderful team of Playworkers.

The club has its own base, located in two Portacabins on the junior playground and the children have really taken ownership - making it their own place to unwind, relax, create, learn, and play. They are involved in making decisions about the club through the Club Council. In addition to the Portacabins the children have access to the school hall, playground, field, MUGGA and ICT suite.

Staff encourage the children to be creative both inside and out, testing their skills and knowledge of the world by building dens in the woods, climbing trees in a supportive environment and encouraging other physical and cognitive activities. The setting is divided into Infants and Juniors ensuring that the play equipment and resources are tailored to their age and abilities. As well as free play, a daily adult led activity is provided which may be a cooking, craft, quizzes, or a sports activity.

How to book

All parents are required to create an account on our online booking system, which is managed by magicbooking. This will allow you to manage your details, view availability and make, pay for and cancel bookings.

Bookings can be booked for ad hoc sessions or the entire academic year but all are subject to availability.

Please note that handover will take place at the school gate.

When making your booking, you will be offered a selection of  times to choose from that coincide with a drop off or collection time. However, when booking Afterschool Club, even if your child is attending a school lead activity until 4pm  you must book into the 1st session ending at 4pm and then select a collection time from the optional list.

For example

My son is attending football club on  a Tuesday afterschool but then I want him to attend Clubland afterwards.  So I book him into the 1st session until 4pm and then select an optional collection time at 5.30pm. I will then message Kim the Manager on the site mobile to inform her that he is attending Football every Tuesday evening and will come onto to Clubland after. This then allows Kim to liaise with the Football coaches and ensure a safe handover.

Ofsted

At our latest Ofsted inspection in 2017, the setting was rated as 'Good' and the inspector comments on how the children enjoy their time at Clubland and develop their skill sets through the activities we run and the routines we adopt. She also highlights the good relationships with have with both children and parents.

Safety and Security

In line with school policy, all children are escorted to Clubland by members of the teaching staff and a register is taken. We will share with school a daily register of children attending, but as this is not updated automatically we ask that you log onto your account to reflect an absence of attendance or leave  a text message on the site phone.

When you collect your child/ren, you will be required to sign our daily register or during Covid times we will sign out on your behalf provided that you are on the collectors list and we are able to identify you. If you are unknown to staff on collection you will be asked for the password that you nominated on your registration form as a means of identity.

All our Policies and Procedures are available online.
