Playscheme Manager Vacancies: 

  • Starting salary: £14.53 per hour, plus holiday pay (hourly rate will increase with training and length of service)
  • Holiday pay:  Added at 12.07%, bringing the hourly starting rate to £16.28
  • Terms: Fixed hour contract, term time only - additional holiday work available at our holiday clubs
  • Minimum age: 16 (16 year olds can apply once leaving secondary school)
  • Training: First Aid and Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead training required and supplied - uplift included within starting salary
Available shifts and locations:
  • Holiday Club: Agreed days during school holidays (08:00-17:30), Monday to Friday

More About The Role

Responsible to the Company Director, this role will see you working in conjunction with the Breakfast Club Manager to lead a team of Playworkers to ensure a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care for children aged 4-11 who attend the setting after school.

Afterschool Club - When the children have been collected from their classrooms, they are offered a light snack which is prepared by a member of our team. From there, they will spend the afternoon engaging in supported free play and have the opportunity to take part in the adult led activity for that day, which would usually be craft or cookery. They are given a further small snack at around 16:45.

You will be required to lead a team to deliver the session, including managing refreshments, playing with the children and arranging the daily activity. Staff take it in turns to take responsibility for each area which means every session is different!

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver a high standard of care to the children attending the setting, upholding the Playwork Principles and ensuring the delivery of Early Years welfare requirements.
  • Motivate, upskill and lead a team of staff ensuring high levels of engagement and commitment to deliver quality care to children at the setting. Including but not limited to the support and management of recruitment, induction, development and disciplinary.
  • Manage the daily running of the setting including but not limited to; overseeing and supporting child-led free play, delivery of craft, cookery and/or sporting activities and the delivery of refreshments for the children on arrival and mid-way through the session.
  • Ensure the health and wellbeing of the children in attendance through effective risk management and delivery of first aid as and when required.
  • Communicate and liaise with parents/carers and school staff in order to ensure the children’s mental and physical wellbeing, that EYFS children achieve their areas of development and to establish a strong working relationship.
  • Undertake administrative tasks in relation to the management and development of the setting such as record management, activity planning, staff rotas, stock management and risk assessments (on average 1 hour per week as overtime).
  • Oversee the efficient upkeep of the setting inclusive of maintenance, cleanliness, furnishings and fittings.
  • Contribute to the production of regular external communications and attendance at networking events with the purpose of developing relationships, sharing news and marketing to key stakeholders.
  • Attend planning and training sessions as appropriate ensuring that relevant qualifications required for the post are maintained.
  • Act in accordance with current legislation, policy and procedure in relation to the delivery of the business needs
  • Perform other duties as requested by the Senior Management Team.
