Holiday Club Deputy Manager

 

Location: Claygate, Surrey
Hours: 08:00 - 17:30 over 23 days during school holidays (negotiable)
Starting salary: £13.28 per hour, plus holiday pay (uplifted with training and years of service)
Holiday pay: Added at 12.07%, raising the starting hourly rate to £14.88
Employment Type: Permanent, fixed-hour contract
Age Requirement: Applicants must be 16+ (applications from 16-year-olds are welcome once secondary education is completed)
Training Provided: Includes First Aid and Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead training as part of the starting salary
Reports to: Holiday Club Manager

Role Overview

Collaborating with Holiday Club Managers and other Deputy Managers, you’ll ensure that every club day runs smoothly and meets the highest standards of care. From leading activities to fostering creativity, you’ll motivate your team to deliver enriching experiences for every child.  


 

Your Impact

  • Childcare & Play: Support the team to deliver high-quality, child-centered care that fosters physical, emotional, and social development.
  • Activity Coordination: Oversee engaging activities like crafts, cookery, and sports, ensuring each session inspires creativity and fun.
  • Safety First: Manage risk assessments, maintain safety standards, and deliver first aid when necessary.
  • Parent Connections: Build positive relationships with parents, keeping them informed and involved in their child’s journey.
  • Daily Operations: Assist with administrative tasks, from scheduling to stock management, ensuring everything runs like clockwork.
  • Team Leadership: Motivate, mentor, and support Playworkers, fostering a collaborative and positive work environment.

 

What We’re Looking For

Essential Qualities
  • Skills: Creativity, excellent communication, strong organizational abilities, and a proactive attitude.
  • Experience: Working with children, activity planning, and risk management.
  • Knowledge: Basic understanding of Playwork Principles and safeguarding.
  • Values: Caring, empathetic, and committed to equal opportunities and child safety.  
Desirable Qualifications and Skills
  • Certifications: NVQ Level 2/3 in Childcare or Playwork, Paediatric First Aid, Basic Food & Hygiene, and Safeguarding.
  • Experience: Working with children aged 4-11, managing teams, and familiarity with record-keeping and stock management.
  • Knowledge: Awareness of Ofsted requirements and the Childcare Act 2006.
  • Values: A passion for child development and a desire to create enriching experiences
