Holiday Club News - Easter Holiday Club 2024

29th April 2024

Dear Parents and Carers

We hope you had a wonderful Easter break! Here at Clubland, our days were filled with sunshine and an action-packed activity program that brought smiles to all the children's faces. From arts and crafts to cookery sessions (although the kids may have enjoyed eating their creations more than sharing them), every moment was bursting with excitement and creativity. Our dedicated team of Managers and Playworkers went above and beyond to ensure that your children had a blast, creating lasting memories during these special two weeks.

Our activities

Our theme for the week was 'Barnyard Bonanza,' immersing ourselves in all things farm-related! The goal was to make every farm activity fun, exciting, and delicious. We indulged in a farm-inspired culinary journey with 'S'moo'thies', 'Cheesy Straws Stacks', 'Hay Bales', 'Veggie Patch Pudding', 'Tasty Marshmallow S'Mores', and our 'Woolly Wonders' cupcakes. Needless to say, not a single crumb was left behind!

A Barnyard Bonanza wouldn't be complete without some messy play, including 'Splendid Scarecrow Sacks', 'Crazy Cobs', 'Marvellous Muddy Pigs', 'Rock'n'Roll Chickens' and 'Lucky Horseshoes' to name a few!

From the moment our doors opened to when we closed them, the children and staff created unforgettable memories together.

Continuing the excitement outdoors, our fantastic outdoor space was a hub of activity with children enjoying the trim trail, honing their balance and swinging skills. The 'MUGA' area was buzzing with serious football skills on display, as well as teamwork and support among all. Another thrilling outdoor activity was our large parachute, which the children adored using to dash underneath, toss a ball on top, and create various shapes.

"I had the pleasure of working Easter Holiday Club, I enjoyed leading the arts and crafts activities, they are always planned so well and being child friendly. During lunch it is always nice to hear the children talking about what they have been doing and sharing their morning with each other. "

Our day trips

What a great few trips we had, if we do say ourselves! We enjoy taking the children on new and exciting adventures.

Our first trip was to the new and very good, 'Rock Up', in Walton on Thames. Here the children got to experience different climbing walls - they had some seriously funky climbing walls with different shapes to hold on to, but the children made it look easy. They were flying up the walls! They also had an indoor high wire course to go around which was a popular activity. We saw them go round again and again and again, it made us feel dizzy just watching them! Once we had finished our session we headed to the local park where we had a picnic - the children had definitely worked up an appetite. After all had finished we had some free play in the park, but unfortunately had to head back to the setting as the weather had got a little wet and windy!

Our second trip out was to Coral Reef. The children had a splashing time exploring the swimming pool. They enjoyed the onsite water slides, lazy river, water cannons and the pirate ship. It's definitely a great day out, and we took advantage of the extended parking and took our lunch over the road to The Look Out Discovery Centre, found some picnic benches outside and had a good debrief on what we enjoyed at the pool while filling our hungry tummies. Once the children had finished they had some free play in the well equipped playground. The sun was shining for us that day and we had a wonderful afternoon outside.

For our Stay'n'Play trip on Friday we headed over to Guildford. We mixed the day up a little differently and  started at Stoke Park where the children enjoyed the playground before finding a lovely picnic area to have our lunch. After lunch, we got back on the bus and drove over to the Electric Theatre. Here we saw an amazing rendition of The Wizard Of Oz - it was a  Panto! The cast were amazingly talented, had great integrations with the audience and told the story so well. The children absolutely loved it. They sat so well, were totally engaged and even got upset at the interval as they thought it had finished - they wanted more (oh no they didn't, oh yes they did!)

"It is always a pleasure to be a part of the trips, the children are always polite and have great sense of humours. When accompanying a group of children on outings, it's not uncommon for them to start off as strangers. However, by the time we return, they are already eagerly discussing future trips and enthusiastically planning their next adventures together."
